Innovation Hub: Food Sovereignty - Growing Nutritious Food and Grinding Ono Meals

The County of Maui invites the community to a compelling discussion on Food Sovereignty: Growing Nutritious Food and Grinding Ono Meals. This public meeting will highlight innovative approaches to strengthening Maui’s food systems through technology, sustainability, and local farming solutions. The event will feature guest speakers Gerry Holodak from FarmBox Foods and Georgia Pinsky from Maui Food Farmers, who will share insights on scalable food production models and their impact on economic resilience and environmental sustainability. Additionally, Tom Furness from the Virtual World Society will discuss how immersive technology can foster global collaboration and position Maui as a leader in sustainable innovation.

Through engaging discussions and a moderated Q&A session, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how emerging technologies and creative farming models can support Maui’s food sovereignty. Hosted by the Office of Innovation and Sustainability, this event reinforces the Innovation Hub’s mission to tackle key challenges in food, water, and energy security through forward-thinking solutions. Whether you’re a local farmer, sustainability advocate, or simply passionate about the future of food on Maui, this is an opportunity to connect, learn, and be part of the movement toward a more self-sufficient island community.
